This week Primavera TV presents the live concerts of Einstürzende Neubauten, of Montreal and Za! at the last edition of San Miguel Primavera Sound.
Pioneers of industrial rock and veterans of European avant-garde, Einstürzende Neubauten are more than just a band. Since Blixa Bargeld went back to concentrating exclusively on the German collective, after his time playing with Nick Cave’s Bad Seeds, his sound has constantly reinvented itself and until it has reached an exquisite and unique place where elegance and recklessness are so close that noise and silence seem to be almost the same thing.
“Megaflow” by the Barcelona duo Za! left audiences gobsmacked, as always. It is time to stop asking, “What exactly do Za! do?” As they seem to produce songs solely to avoid answering that question.
Of Montreal opened the stage at San Miguel and filled it with fancy dress, colours and perfect melodies in seemingly structureless songs. A carnival of psychedelic pop that is just as easily sung by an Elephant 6 fan as it is danced to by someone who only parties for partying’s sake. Kevin Barnes’s band is coming back to our country for two concerts in Barcelona and Madrid to present his new record "Paralytic Stalks".
