U.S. GIRLS’S POLITICAL POP WITH NO CONSTRAINTS OF GENRE RAISES ITS VOICE IN MADRID AND BARCELONA

  • With her vibrant In a Poem Unlimited, the Canada-based artist comes back to present a powerful, collaboration-filled album

Revenge tales (Velvet 4 Sale), razor-sharp criticism of male canons in art (Rosebud) and an ever expanding musical vocabulary under the umbrella of pop: all of this and more is encapsulated in the album entitled In a Poem Unlimited, an project that confirms Meg Remy, body and soul of U.S. Girls, as one of the most lucid and original minds of new psychedelic music today.

With an arsenal of five previous records to be added to this recently released sixth one, this multidisciplinary Canada-based Illinois-born artist will give two concerts in Spain: on 26th November in El Sol in Madrid, and on the next day in La (2) de Apolo in Barcelona. This album is the fruit of collaborations, which include the omnipresence of the Toronto instrumental collective Cosmic Range and on which funk, electronic details, pop and psychedelic choruses refuse to be pigeonholed.

With a record that presents “dark reflections on acts of violence”and on which the feminine voice attains empowerment while also – why not say it – producing the most animal-like fury, Remy returns to our stages two years after her last performance at Primavera Sound.  And now, thanks to an album which is at once the most kaleidoscopic and personal that she has released so far.
